The latest news from the Rush Family
Twenty months ago, we stepped out in faith to discern a call from God. Our timeline was first expedited, then interrupted. Neither was expected. Both were painful. Every member of our family felt it.
The whole time, we sensed God leading us to NYC.
We talked of joining the team at a church there. We talked with two church planting organizations. We interviewed at another church to become their next lead pastor, and we prayed about applying for the lead role at a church in Brooklyn.
In June, while we were in Manhattan exploring a plant with Vineyard USA, we met a couple of elders from a church called Vineyard Manhattan. We'd never heard of it. The meeting was impromptu and casual. Their lead pastor resigned earlier that week. One of the elders reached out to Vineyard USA to ask if any pastors or church planters might be praying about moving there to start a new church. Vineyard USA's reply: "Yes, and they're here right now. Do you want to meet them?"
The conversation continued over the summer, and in August 2026 we made another trip to NYC to spend more time discerning next steps. It was on this trip that we sensed a peace and a calling to Vineyard Manhattan. After attending the church, meeting the people, and discerning with the elders, we joyfully accepted the offer to become the next lead pastors of Vineyard Manhattan. We have been waiting on God's clear call for twenty months as a family and we could not be more excited and are amazed by what God has done.
